Memory Verses

Memorizing Scripture Together!

We are inviting all those who would like to participate in memorizing Scripture together!
This is a new ministry started by two members of our Church who would like to share ways that they are memorizing Scripture to grow in their faith and fellowship together as a Body of Christ.  We will work on memorizing Scripture during the week and then share our progress during Worship on Sabbath.  See Tips below for ideas on how to help memorize Scripture.

July Memory Verses:

July 6        Joshua 1:8

“This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

July 13      Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

July 20      Matthew 11:28

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

July 27      Matthew 11:29-30

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Memorizing Tips:
Sunday:  Read this week's memory verse with the verses around it.  Ask God to help you understand and apply it.
Monday:  Write out this week's memory verse on an index card or paper.  Read it several times and then cover it and see how much you can say without looking.
Tuesday:  Cover verse and see how much you can say.  Repeat several times out loud.
Wednesday - Sabbath:  Continue to practice this week's verse.  Also repeat previously learned passages to help keep them in your mind.

"Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a Light to my path."  Psalm 119:105
